The story

Postmarked: Adventure!

Meet Veer and Maya, a brother and sister from Philadelphia seeing India for the first time. Until now, India has lived only in Nanu’s stories and the spices in the kitchen. This year that changes. They write home about everything they see, taste, and learn: the festivals they celebrate, the foods they try, the animals they spot, and the people and stories they come to love. Young readers experience it all through their eyes.

Every other Friday, a new envelope goes out with your young reader’s name on it. Will Veer try the spiciest snack in Delhi? What will Maya’s eye for detail catch next? Each letter answers one question, raises another, and comes with small treasures to keep. Over 24 letters, kids will travel thousands of miles without leaving home.

Why we made this

Mailbox magic, made with love.

The Peacock Letters began with my slightly kooky love of checking the mail. In elementary school, I had a pen pal, and the thrill of opening the mailbox to find a letter with my name on it never left me. I wanted my own children to feel that same mailbox magic.

Along the way, The Peacock Letters became something more. It gave me a way to share a fun, relatable story about India with my kids, who haven't visited yet either. With every letter, they get a little closer to a place that's part of who they are.

Who are The Peacock Letters for?

Kids ages 5 to 11 who love stories, maps, and mail. The letters are written for kids to read on their own, and younger readers can share them with a grown-up. No connection to India needed, just curiosity.

What arrives in the mail?

A new letter from Veer and Maya every other Friday, 24 in all. Each one comes with small treasures to keep, like stickers, trading cards, word games and bookmarks.

How do the two plans work?

Monthly is $20 a month, billed monthly until you cancel. It continues after the first journey, with Veer and Maya's next adventure. Prepaid covers all 24 letters of the first journey in one payment of $192, saving $48.

Does it auto-renew?

Prepaid never renews. Monthly continues after the first journey, with Veer and Maya's next adventure. Cancel anytime from your account.

When does the first letter ship?

Letters mail on Fridays. Launch orders ship together in time for Diwali. After that, orders placed by Wednesday at 11:59 PM Eastern ship that Friday, and a new letter mails every other Friday. Your exact first mailing date shows next to the plans above.

How do I send it as a gift?

Choose a plan and add each child's name, then enter their address as the shipping address at checkout. We mail every letter directly to them, and we never include prices in the package.

Is there a guarantee?

Yes. If you're not happy, email us within 30 days of your first letter's arrival and we'll refund you in full. No need to send anything back.

How do I cancel a Monthly plan?

Cancel anytime from your account, or email support@thepeacockletters.com. You won't be charged again after you cancel.

What if a letter goes missing?

If a letter hasn't arrived within 30 days of its expected date, let us know and we'll send a replacement at no cost.

What if we move?

Email us at least 5 days before the next mailing date, and the rest of the letters will go to your new address.
